Village of Ilion Fields

DPW, Water and Electric staff members assist with the work at South Fifth Ave Ball Field

South Fifth Ball fields see a great deal of action from various sport enthusiasts. The fields are used by both Mohawk and Ilion School systems as well as many youth sporting groups. The fields are maintained through the spirit of inter-department cooperation and along with school and volunteer involvement, many come together to "spruce up" the fields.Village staff from the DPW, Water and Electric joined with representatives from the Ilion School system and volunteers will mow, drag, rake, line, aerate and clean the fields.  For those not interested in the sports, there is a swing set and other equipment for young people to use. For the naturalist a small wooded area.

David Whalen Community Park Many volunteers came together to refurbish the park in 2007 in the memory of David Whalen long time caretaker for the park.  The Village Board by resolution named the former Community Park in his memory.  It is currently used for various activities, including leagues, school use and recreational program use.  A caretaker is hired throughout the late spring and summer months to maintain the fields.   A special reservation form is available for use of the fields.
